ABOUT US
We are two 20 something girls, Emily & Rhianna, who spent time in the care system before turning 18 and are now trying to find their own way in the world.
For us both, being in care wasn’t always an easy or positive experience, however we are fully aware that this isn’t the case for everybody. With this blog, our goal is to provide for other children in care and care leavers something we wish we’d had, when we needed it.
As with all young people with lived experience of the care system, we have contrasting feelings and opinions on different aspects of life in care, so we hope we can provide something for everybody to relate to somehow.
When we think back, we feel it would have been useful to have the stories of others, and helpful resources, readily available to us to help us overcome specific challenges we were faced with, and that is what we aim to provide with our blog.
We are by no means professionals, just two Young People with lived experience of the care system, with a shared desire to make the journey through the care system easier for our peers.
